Priorities
As part of CMU's strategic plan, five priorities have been established:
- Create an environment that supports teaching and learning as the top priority.
- Provide educational experiences and programs that enhance diversity and a global perspective.
- Enhance the infrastructure for research and creative activity.
- Provide service for the public good.
- Strengthen the institution’s culture of integrity.
To measure progress toward achieving success in each of these priority areas, Key Performance Indicators have been identified.
Evidence of greatest progress exists for the first priority: teaching and learning. The Key Performance Indicator measuring CMU first year students’ academic expectations shows the greatest success. CMU students report doing more writing, working harder and thinking more deeply in their classes. Contributors to this success we believe are increases in writing and mathematics competency requirements, the expanded support for student success through the Writing Center and new Mathematics Center, and greater visibility of and expanded classes and services within Honors, Leadership and other programs that enrich CMU students’ first year of college.
Priority Committee Members
Committees have been established in each of the priority areas. Review the links below to see who the members are and how to contact them.
