Key Performance Indicators, if they are to be “key”, must be relatively few in number. However, there are numerous related indicators or measures which support the KPIs and/or provide important supplementary information. It is important to note that this list is preliminary and may change as more input is gathered. Below you will find Related Measures to the KPIs for Priority III, Infrastructure for Research and Creative Endeavors.

1. Percentage of external grants of less than $1250 value

2. Percentage of external grants of greater than or equal to $25,000 value

3. Startup or research seed money distributed to faculty

4. Faculty workload as a ratio of CMU workload compared to benchmark average

5. Senior students responding “Have Done” to the following question: "…which of the following have you done before you graduate…work on a research project with a faculty member outside of course or program requirements"

6. Number of students engaged in faculty sponsored research as broken down by subcategory levels (undergraduate, Master’s, specialist, doctoral)

7. Budget expenditures in support of research, as general fund dollar amounts

8. Graduate student theses and dissertations

9. Faculty Scholarship

10. Number of invention/patent disclosures (CMU & CMU-RC)

11. Percentage of Faculty Published

12. Number of exhibits & professional performances by faculty
