DEFINITION - KPI 3
It is valuable that students experience quality learning opportunities in the classroom when measuring matters of teaching and learning. One indicator that each student is receiving enough attention to fulfill his/her educational needs is the student-faculty ratio.
Ultimately, the student-faculty ratio decreasing gradually across fiscal years, although the steady progress is moving to lower our student-to-faculty ratio as we monitor the trend from FY05 to FY07.
The Student-to-Faculty Ratio is calculated using this formula:
Ratio of full-time equivalent students (full-time plus 1/3 part-time) to full-time equivalent instructional faculty (full-time plus 1/3 part-time). In the ratio calculations, both faculty and students in stand-alone graduate or professional programs such as medicine, law, veterinary, dentistry, social work, business, or public health in which faculty teach virtually only graduate-level students are excluded. Undergraduate or graduate student teaching assistants are not counted as faculty. Data taken from the Common Data Set housed by the Office of Institutional Research.
