DEFINITION - KPI 15
External funding awarded in support of service ideally should be distinguished from other external funding. One example of such funding exists in the form of service grants.
Service grants include activities specifically for public service as well as for activities established primarily to provide non-instructional services beneficial to groups external to the institution. Examples can consist of:
- seminars
- symposia
- conferences
- projects provided to the particular sectors of the community
- laboratory testing
- consulting services
- most fee-for-service agreements
- public broadcasting services
Service grants have been decreasing significantly. This is due to expiration external awards used directly to assist with the PBS digital conversion.
